I say lucky because I am (and always will be) a dreadful photographer.
I’ve been known to barter and beg people to send me theirs on occasion. Well, truth be told, I’ve been known to beg on more than one occasion.
Like most writers I know, if you give me a photo, I’ll find the words to go with it.
If you’re wondering why I chose this particular photo, it was simply because it made me smile. The more I looked at it, the funnier (and truer) it seemed for a couple of reasons.
The older we get, the more we need a few of our own “keepers” right?
Family members we’d choose as friends even if we weren’t related (you know who you are!)
Friends who know what we’re thinking without saying a word. 😉
Neighbors who look beyond their fence line to look out for us.
Work colleagues we’ve connected with on the heart level.
Strangers we interact with once but never forget. Ever.
I call them keepers.
We all need more of them.
We all need to become them (more.)
FYI, the site where I found this comical “keeper” is Existing Actuality (interesting name if you think about it.)
